Press Release Format
Headline and Summary
- Headlines should not be too long (preferably under 18 words), short and accurate headlines perform better.
- Headline should accurately present the press release’s content.
- Headline must be newsworthy (important and recent enough to be announced).
- Headline style should be written with initial caps (e.g., This Is A Sample Of Your Headline).
- Summary should clearly describe the press release’s content.
- Summary should be under 45 words. Long summary runs the risk of being trimmed by some of our media partners.
- Do not use the first paragraph as a summary paragraph.
- Do not use an exclamation mark in the headline and summary, as it is mostly used in advertisements.
- Headline and summary should not contain question(s) or exclamation(s).
- Do not use special characters such as ™ or © and symbols in the headline. Symbols run the risk of being omitted by some of our media partners.
- Headlines with active verbs and subjects will be more enticing.
Press release content
- Press releases should be appropriately lengthed (between 300 to 800 words is the sweet spot)
- Press releases should read impartial and official — usage of casual first-person language is not suggested (I, we, you, etc).
- Attach no more than 1 image per press release with a maximum of 200KB in file size (jpg, png, or gif only).
- Content should be of legitimate news with an announcement of something new and/or timely.
- Press releases should read like an announcement --- it is not a medium to advertise or sell your product or service.
- Press releases content should focus on the entity that is issuing the press release. Press release is not a medium to comment or discuss about other entities or happenings. The one exception is when you have a verified authorization, please contact us for more information about authorization.
- The video should be embedded correctly into the press release.
- Press releases should read like an announcement --- asking questions in a press release is not suggested.
- Use Uppercase and Lowercase lettering appropriately.
- Avoid inserting JavaScript or other markup languages in your press release, such as <strong>…</strong> or <em>…</em> ONLY links eg. <a href=”URL”>…</a> are acceptable.
- Ensure content is formatted correctly, with each paragraph spaced out with a line.

- Include available contact information, date, and location at provided fields.
