Wagner & Wagner has selected law student Vince Jackson as the recipient of the first Annual Civil Justice Scholarship Award.

Wagner & Wagner Attorneys at Law is proud to announce that Vincent Jackson has been selected to receive the Wagner & Wagner Annual Civil Justice Scholarship Award. This is the first year that the scholarship has been awarded.

“Vincent Jackson is an extraordinary young student,” said partner Michael Wagner. “We have gotten to know him quite well, and we believe that he is the ideal recipient for our inaugural award. Our firm has served Chattanooga since 1945, and we believe that it is important to support the education of young lawyers, as a way to keep our justice system strong. We expect great things from Vince.”

About Vincent Jackson

Mr. Jackson is a legal intern and a 2L student at Lincoln Memorial University Duncan School of Law. He is a Tennessee native, and an accomplished classical guitarist. Mr. Jackson’s essay for the scholarship, on the topic of an injured plaintiff’s right to be compensated, was an exploration of the concept of “duty,” and the historic, codified roots of what that means in a civil society. His conclusion – that without the balance provided by a civil justice system, society could descend into chaos – echoes the belief of the firm: that protecting the rights of the injured is the ethical thing to do. This in-depth and nuanced perspective of why plaintiffs’ rights must be protected spoke to Mr. Jackson’s willingness to do the work required of any young lawyer. For this reason, among others, he was chosen as this year’s recipient.
