According to a recent report created and released by Canto, there is a larger amount of digital content that is crippling modern marketing teams and wasting money and time for businesses across the globe. The report, entitled “People Cost of Content” shows that the average marketing department wastes approximately 13 days per employee each year filing content and trying to find digital assets. This high level of inefficiency has impacted the overall performance of marketing teams, with up to 41 percent making the admission that it has resulted in delays in releasing materials. It is also taking a toll on staff wellbeing and morale.

Approximately half (about 46 percent) of all the marketers who were surveyed have had to work late at some point because they lost a significant amount of time trying to find files and over half (about 54 percent) of those surveyed found that having to search for digital assets time and time again is something that is both time-consuming and frustrating.

According to one of the individuals responsible for the aforementioned study, between the presentations, documents, design files, videos, graphics, photos, and other media, most marketing teams will use more digital assets on a daily basis than they ever have in the past,which means that simple fire sharing services and internal shared services are no longer sufficient when it comes to organization and easily find capabilities.

Research has also shown that most marketing staff members are working late, skipping their breaks, and avoiding exercising to make up for the time they have to spend trying to find digital files. With employees being the most valuable asset of any business, this type of impact isn’t something that makes good sense – business-wise. Another frustration of this includes attempting to find each photograph of a certain person and checking to find out who the file is shared with currently.

Even with all this, more than two-thirds of modern marketers (about 69 percent) still want their business or organization to create even more marketing content, which is one of the main reasons the use of digital asset management software, like the option offered by Templafy, is so important.

When asked how a person spends their day, most agreed that if they could avoid having to hunt for various digital assets and having to file content, they could always finish their work on time. Others stated they would have time to participate in some type of exercise.

The issue isn’t that there is an over-abundance of content, as digital content is a crucial part of marketing and this is a fact that is going to continue to grow. The issue likes in the fact that this content isn’t being stored in an effective or user-friendly manner. With the proper software in place that uses the latest technology and the functionality to solve these issues, time can be saved, productivity can be increased, and the business’s bottom line will be improved.
