Run 2X2 Veterans Will and Dustin make a new friend in Oklahoma City. They go running with ‘Farmtruck’ of the Street Outlaws show on the Discovery Channel.

Run 2X2 Vets, Will Owens and Dustin Schnatz, closed in on the halfway mark of their incredible 2,895 mile journey when they reached Oklahoma City, OK. While stopped to hydrate and refuel, these two Marine Corps veterans and their dogs were spotted by Farmtruck and Lou, so they decided to see what Dustin and Will were up to.

When Will and Dustin explain their mission to raise awareness for veterans suffering from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) by running across the United States, Farmtruck was amazed. So much so, that Farmtruck not only made a donation, but he also ran with the guys, after a quick sardine snack.

The first step of their amazing trek took place at 7:30AM on May 1st from the Imperial Beach Pier in California and is scheduled to cover almost 3,000 miles, if all goes as planned. Their final destination is Virginia Beach, VA. All proceeds go to benefit veteran charities with donations and support in kind going to Project Build Up, a registered 501(c)3.

Will and Dustin have traversed nearly 1,500 miles in their mission to reach the East Coast. The purpose of their journey becomes more fulfilled with each encounter and the time spent with Farmtruck and Lou made their journey even more worthwhile.

Estimates from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs indicates that almost 31% of Vietnam, 10% of Gulf War, 11% of Afghanistan, and 20% of Iraqi War veterans are afflicted with PTSD. The total of these figures would suggest that nearly 450,000 veterans are suffering with PTSD.

According to a study by the RAND Corporation, approximately 50% of veterans with PTSD do not seek treatment and only half of those who are treated, receive what is termed “minimally adequate” treatment. All of this leads to an estimated suicide rate of 20 veterans, every day.

The Law Firm of Gordon & Doner, PA is the lead sponsor of Run 2X2 Vets and proudly supports the millions of Veterans who have honorably served our great nation. “Will and Dustin’s selfless efforts to raise awareness for those struggling with PTSD is commendable and a cause close to our hearts. It is our privilege to support them on their arduous journey across the United States,” stated Adam Werner, the lead veteran benefits lawyer for the Injured Veterans legal team at Gordon & Doner, P.A.
