Class Updates is helping to connect students and teachers when other ed-tech platforms have struggled to make the connection during this pandemic.

The biggest names in venture capital and ed-tech investors are approaching Florida entrepreneurs Temante Leary and Richart Ruddie as their education application Class Updates is keeping students engaged during COVID-19 and has a mission to help underrepresented education institutes.

Direct communication application Class Updates has been innovative in helping to keep students in touch and updated with their school work through this pandemic and the thousands of new sign ups each month is proving it's efficiency. With an initial focus working with local Florida schools and helping HBCU professors to on board their students they are now seeing their hard work paying off with the traction their gaining and the tremendous praise they are receiving from their users about how great the iOS and Android application is.

The idea behind the direct to mobile communications platform is to ensure that it's seen not as a competitor but rather as a compliment to learning management systems such as Canvas and Blackboard. While those applications have a lot of features the social media and direct notification aspect of Class Updates has made it an excellent application to be used in parallel with these other applications in the education sector.

Praises are coming in from the underrepresented communities that have been largely forgotten and brushed aside by most education companies but thanks to Class Updates team members Richart Ruddie & Temante Leary they are ensuring that those communities can use the application for free with no hurdles for signing up and using.

The social impact and education entrepreneurs Temante Leary and Richart Ruddie expanded on the idea to notify students when their classes were cancelled to build out a fully developed platform that allows students to view assignments, connect with other students in their class, and have a class chat room to discuss things they learned during their Zoom class. It's also helped with a 99% retention rate for students who have had difficulties keeping in touch with their classmates and teachers and were at risk of falling behind educationally are thankful for Class Updates as a tool to keep them up to date and in touch.

The mobile first company has thrived by ensuring support for High Schools and Colleges that struggled previously to find effective ways to keep students engaged and found that COVID-19 only made that more difficult in the e-learning space. While some schools are back in session there is a lot of blended digital learning and school districts are still struggling to keep their students engaged and that's why Ruddie thinks the application has had it's time to shine keeping students engaged and lowering the chance that they will be left behind educationally.

CEO Temante Leary is also a founding member of Miami's Black Men Talk Tech, Florida based tech conference which seeks to provide exposure and resources to Black tech founders who are building the next Unicorn while also promoting South Florida as a growing hub for startups just like the growing Class Updates.

"Thanks to Class Updates great UX/UI design that students are familiar with they’re able to sign up and connect with their other classmates that they aren’t seeing in the class rooms due to the novel coronavirus in minutes and that is one of the many silver linings of the pandemic that is fueling the growth of our education platform" according to Ruddie.
