Dublin Airport Central has released a new post that has gathered information on the most popular skyscrapers in the world on Instagram and compiled it into an informative article. The piece compares the height of the buildings to the number of Instagram photographs on the subject. The height is calculated by using the height of a single Polaroid picture for each hashtag of the skyscraper.The article shows that the most popular skyscraper on Instagram is actually the Empire State Building with over 4,283,025 hashtags. While not the tallest building in the world, it has the most number of hashtag uses. If the hashtags were considered Polaroids and piled up, it would reach well over 2,000 metres in height which is over 5 times the height of the skyscraper itself. Despite being built in only 2010, this is still a massive achievement and will likely stay as one of the tallest and most popular skyscrapers in the world.
The Burj Khalifa comes in at second place. It’s currently the tallest building in the world standing at a breath-taking 828 metres and has earned 3,617,996 hashtags. This puts the building at just under half of its height in hashtags, making it physically taller than the Empire State Building but being smaller in popularity by a little over 660,000 hashtag uses. Coming in at third, four and fifth place are the One World Trade Center, Taipei 101 and Willis Tower respectively.
