Mosthost Ltd of Ilkeston has won the East Midlands region in the National Small Business Big Heart Awards in association with BusinessesForSale.com

Amandas Silver Boutique proudly announces the company has won the East Midlands Regional 2018 Small Business Big Heart Award. The award has been given for the many good deeds the company undertakes in the local community. It offers free website hosting to the local Friends of Straws Bridge group, sells wildlife-related stock and silver jewellery hand made by Kelly at events to raise funds and makes donations to Treetops Hospice and Queens Medical Centre.

Jeff Wynch, Chairman of the Friends of Straw's Bridge says "Kelly Thomas has been a member of a local conservation group called the Friends of Straw's Bridge since it started back in 2011. In that time she's played a big part in helping to gain Local Nature Reserve status for the site and in winning Green Flag status year after year. Kelly takes charge of the fundraising at local events. Not only does she organise the stall, she produces and donates much of the custom made merchandise. She also designs and prints the group's posters."

Caroline commented, "Kelly has been a fantastic asset to local community group 'friends of Straw's Bridge'. She joined the group when it was first in its infancy and has dedicated a lot of time to fundraising at local events, raising the profile of the group and helping out with activities to improve the site. Kelly's hard work has contributed to the group being able to raise enough funds to install nesting platforms on the site and undertake environmental awareness activities for families and other local people. Her voluntary work with the friends' group has helped the site to achieve green flag and local nature reserve status".

A local school has received craft supplies and a custom-made gold pendant of Bennerley Viaduct, only one of two remaining wrought-iron viaducts in England. This item was donated to the friends of Bennerley Viaduct to raise funds for the building that is on the at-risk register. The Chairman of Friends of Bennerley Viaduct explains "She designed and made a gold pendant depicting the logo of the Friends of Bennerley Viaduct, who are campaigning to restore a Grade II* listed wrought iron structure in the Erewash valley. Selling the gold jewellery for £50 gave a massive boost to the group's funds".

Kelly who is a director at Mosthost Ltd and runs Amandas Silver Boutique does most of her work at night after her children James (3) and Laura (1) have gone to bed. The mumtrepreneur says "I never expected to be selected for anything like this, I just like to help out where I can because even small things can make a big difference to small, local groups".

Rufus Bazley, Marketing Director at BusinessesForSale.com says, "We were very impressed with the sustained generosity of Mosthost for the many good causes it supports..."

In all, there are 10 regional finalists, one of which will be selected as the overall winner and be given £1,000 towards a good cause of its choice.

"Every year the BusinessesForSale.com Small Business Big Heart Awards demonstrate how much the small business community across the UK does for charities, organisations, and individuals, such as amandas silver boutique, that might otherwise be overlooked. Every one of our finalists is exemplary, it will be hard to select a winner." Rufus continues.
