Texas ranks 4th in the nation for most heartworm positive dogs - and that’s just the ones that are diagnosed, according to the American Heartworm Society. According to AHS’ survey in 2016, heartworm cases are on the rise, with a reported increase of 21.7% of heartworm-positive dogs per clinic. Half of clinics named failure to give preventatives and skipped doses as factors for this rise in heartworm disease.
