Crompton Road Chippy, a popular chip shop located in the heart of Macclesfield, is set to get one couple’s hearts racing after launching a brand new competition to win a wedding reception at their diner.The lucky winners of this unique prize will receive a complimentary wedding breakfast comprising a choice of pies, fish or nuggets with chips for up to 30 guests. The prize also includes welcome drinks, including bottles of fizz ready to toast the newlyweds.
Using the newly-renovated dining space, which was upgraded during the most recent period of Covid-19 restrictions, the traditional fish and chip shop located on Crompton Road will also provide a selection of decorations in the lucky couple’s choice of colours.
Chip shop manager, Charlie Comish said, “We have a real sense of community at the Crompton Road Chippy. We have been here 126 years and our customers are like our family.” He added, “Many who visit our chippy do so as much for the conversation as they do their tea.” “We genuinely care for our regular customers and share in the trials and tribulations of everyday life over the counter.”
Charlie started working at the chippy when he was just 12 years old and it was owned by his grandfather, Arthur Comish. After a few years away studying, Charlie returned to the business after it was taken over by the current owner, James Tattum, to become the manager.
It is this integral commitment to the local community that inspired Charlie to give something back. After hearing of friends having their wedding cancelled and many people losing money to venues that unfortunately didn’t survive the pandemic, he saw this as an opportunity to help members of the community.

The "sole" mates are also required to write a short statement as to why they would like to host their wedding reception at Crompton Road Chippy.
The competition opened on Wednesday 9th June and the winner will be selected at random on 29th July 2021. The winner will be contacted via the social media platform on which they entered and will be given 72 hours to confirm the validity of their entry. In the unlikely case of the winner not acknowledging the prize within 72 hours, the draw will be repeated following the same process. The prize will be valid from 1st August 2021 and must be redeemed before 23rd December 2021.
