Coya Expands Sales Network And Opens Its Platform For Comparison Portals

The German insurance startup Coya now wants to make its insurance accessible via comparison portals. The company had invested a lot in its infrastructure, IT and process optimization in the past year. The ambitious Insurtech is now opening its platform for digital insurance intermediaries.

The Insurtech announces that it will now open its insurance platform for partners via an open API (programming interface). "The step of involving insurance intermediaries is part of our long-term corporate strategy to offer customers insurance solutions in all the usual ways and to make the process as simple and transparent as possible," explains CEO Andrew Shaw. By selling through comparison portals, the company hopes to be able to offer those customers a digital experience who value a variety of insurance options along with the opinion of an independent broker when considering buying an insurance. By listing their most recent multiple award-winning products on portals with independent price-performance comparisons, the Berliners create additional transparency, also when it comes to pricing. Coya offers both household and liability insurance with different modules (“toppings”) as well as bicycle and e-bike theft insurance. The latest product is dog liability insurance with protection for all dog breeds.

Coya is licensed as an insurance company by the German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), which makes Coya one of the few startups to offer its own insurance and pursue its mission to shape the future of insurance. After the company was founded, the focus was initially on building a digital infrastructure. It was particularly important for the Berliners to make the insurance purchase via Coya's online offer as easy and understandable as possible for customers and to offer a modern user experience. In addition to an attractive design, it is essential that the complete service of the digital insurer is also available in English. Once completed, all customers have access to their digital insurance folder, the so-called dashboard, from which customers can easily manage their contracts and report damages with a few clicks. As in direct sales, the new customers benefit from flexible, paperless insurances. The unique selling point of having an outstanding user experience remains the central motivation of Berlin's Insurtech.

The team around founder Andrew Shaw initially wants to serve the new sales channel through a few selected partners, but the sales network is to be expanded quickly and gradually. With its additional sales approach, Coya would like to show that modern startups with cloud-based, event-driven IT infrastructure do very well fit with traditional sales channels - in fact: the established system landscape of the modern Berlin company enables digital partners from all areas to be connected quickly.

It remains to be seen how and with whom the insurance startup will soon work with.
