Paulson & Nace, PLLC, is proud to announce that founding partner Barry J. Nace has been recertified as a civil trial advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Mr. Nace has been a Board Certified Attorney for 24 years.

“Everything we do at our firm is aimed towards what is best for our clients,” said Barry Nace. “When you are ill, you want a certified doctor. When your home’s fuse box fails, you want a certified electrician. When you have been hurt, and you need to go to trial, you deserve a lawyer who is certified in litigation. I want to ensure that our civil justice system remains strong, and I want our clients to feel secure in the knowledge that I can protect their interests and their futures.”

Barry J. Nace is a former President of the NBTA (2007-2009). He has been practicing law for more than 40 years, and has tried more than 150 medical malpractice and birth defect cases. He recently won a $7.1 million verdict on behalf of a child injured at birth. He represented the plaintiff in the landmark case Daubert v. Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals, Inc., before the U.S. Supreme Court, which ruled in his client’s favor. The case has generated more than 100 newsletters, articles and web pieces.

About the NBTA and Board Certification

The National Board of Trial Advocacy was founded in 1977, and “is dedicated to bettering the quality of trial advocacy in our nation's courtrooms and helping consumers find experienced and highly qualified trial lawyers.” The American Bar Association has accredited the NBTA to award certification in four areas of practice: civil trial law, civil pre-trial practice law, Social Security Disability advocacy law, and criminal trial law.

Because the NBTA requires a high standard of practice, attorneys who wish to seek Board Certification must undergo a rigorous evaluation and exam. Per the NBTA, attorneys must successfully demonstrate substantial trial experience; submit peer and judicial references to attest to their competency and proof proof of good standing; and attend continuing legal education courses. The certification must be renewed every five years. Approximately three percent (3%) of all practicing attorneys in the U.S. obtain certification.
