East 48th Street Market, one of the Atlanta area's oldest and most popular Italian markets and restaurants, will be hosting a tasting of limited-distribution wines from Italy on April 23 at 7:30pm. The tasting is the first opportunity to sample several wines that are new to the Market's inventory.Established by local couple Charlie and Anita Augello, East 48th Street Market has built up one of the largest collections of Italian wines in the state of Georgia, stocking more than 170 different selections. Featured at the tasting will be wines from local distributor Steve Mousted and Ohio-based distributor the Marchetti company. The wine choices will showcase several varietals from less common regions of Italy.
“Wine and food are part of every Italian family gathering,” said Charlie Augello, who was raised in the family restaurant business. “We will provide not just the wine and food, but also that warm social atmosphere that a gathering of friends should have.”
Augello says the event will be informal and include cheeses, cold cuts and olives hand chosen to pair with the wines. “You don't have to be a connoisseur to come to this tasting,” Augello said. “We welcome people from near and far, anyone who likes drinking wine and having fun.” The event is open by private registration only.
