The Ordinary Life’s Trevor Freeman has a passion for creativity, and has donated a 3D printer to charity to help young people from deprived areas to develop their design and technology skills.

Automation is coming, and with it mass waves of redundancy, as unskilled labor jobs will be taken away by machines with advanced AI. As a result, the youth of today must prepare themselves for the future by understanding the human-centered applications of technology and design. Opportunities to study these disciplines are still rare, however, and available only to a privileged elite. A founder at The Ordinary Life, Trevor Freeman, wanted to make these skills more accessible, and has donated a 3D printer to the charity Youthbuild to help make that a reality.

Youthbuild provides education, counseling and job skills to unemployed young adults, including a large number of high school dropouts. The charity aims to upskill these individuals and make them more employable in today’s market. Trevor Freeman understood the power and potential of 3D printing for design, fabrication, prototyping, and many other applications, and saw the benefit to these at-risk youths.

Trevor Freeman's charity donation will enable Youthbuild to offer training on more advanced courses than ever, opening up possibilities for young people by developing future-proof career skills. The Ordinary Life helps people understand the world from a different perspective, and can now broaden the horizons of a whole new group of people.

Trevor Freeman of The Ordinary Life explained, “I decided to donate a 3-D printer to an organization called Youthbuild. This tool is quite expensive and not usually accessible to disadvantaged young people. My hope is that this printer will help change someone's life for the better by introducing them to a new passion. There is so much to discover in design, architecture and CAD manufacturing. Our website frequently covers the latest technology news, and the 3D printer is one of the most exciting and inspirational developments of this generation. We are excited to see how Youthbuild take advantage of this technology to help build better futures."
