If basketball teams are serious about winning the game, and winning championships, they need to know how to get the right player in the right place at the right time. These statistics accurately reflect a player’s actual impact on the courts and fields. This takes the guesswork out of knowing who to place when and where, leveraging the player’s abilities to help win the game.
NetValue founder Marc Andreas, said, "There are people who have gone out and done advanced stats work, and it’s very good stuff. But no one else does the type of advanced stats we’re working on. The advanced statistics of NetValue really come from the concept of, as a player, coach and fan, the game is really built not just on how many points you score, but how many points you give up. What we're doing is helping teams, player by player, analyze their individual defensive performance. That’s really what doesn’t exist in the box score at any level."
NetValue was launched in 2012 and was able to get its start due to seed funding through Start Garden, a Grand Rapids-based venture capital fund. This sports consulting agency recently helped the Baylor Men's basketball team with their first ever NIT title in April. NetValue's proprietary system was a catalyst in Baylor's tournament run.
