Utah Foster Care to Benefit from Masquerade Gala.

Each year, the Davis County Commissioners carefully select a worthy organization to support with the proceeds of the annual Davis County Gala. They announced last week that this year’s gala theme would be, “Masquerade- Celebrating 10 Eventful Years,” and are now pleased to announce that proceeds from the October 9th event will benefit Utah Foster Care.

The purposes of the yearly gala are to celebrate Davis County and the Davis Conference Center, to entertain by bringing top-notch performers to Davis County and to give back by selecting a worthy cause to support. In the past, the gala has donated proceeds of the event to The Arts of Davis County, Hill Air Force Base Airmen, The Children’s Justice Center, the Davis Community Learning Center, the Alzheimer’s Service Program, Davis County 4-H Afterschool Program, Chloe’s Sunshine Playground and the Boys and Girls Club, with total proceeds donated topping $395,000.

Statewide there are 2600 children in the foster care system. The Davis County Commissioners recognize the life-changing and world-changing power of foster care, and are grateful for the dedication of all involved in Utah Foster Care. Debbie Hofhines, the Development Director at Utah Foster Care, expressed the organization’s gratitude and said, “In the Northern Region there are 365 families to meet the needs of the 677 children in care. One might think that is sufficient if every family took in two children, but unfortunately, when you factor in the families’ preferences for ages and gender. . . we have an ongoing and compelling need for more families to step forward to meet the needs of every child newborn to age 18. Specifically, in Davis County, there are 165 families caring for 177 children, so the need is even more significant.”

In an effort to provide additional information about how foster care changes lives for the better, Utah Foster Care has produced this video.

Proceeds and donations from the 2014 Masquerade event will directly impact Davis County's children in foster care, and their foster families.
