Brooklyn, NY (April 23, 2019) – In June, Zesty Z is launching a new Mediterranean Popcorn line featuring global flavors and bold packaging. The five ounce bag of ready-to-eat popcorn uses Za’atar, a popular Mediterranean thyme seasoning, three ways: Savory, Spicy, and Feta. Each bag has 47 calories per cup and is Project Verified Non-GMO and Certified Gluten Free.
“Mediterranean flavors are on the rise and consumers are snacking even more. So, we combined the two! At Zesty Z we want to introduce new Mediterranean flavors to consumers in a friendly way. The popcorn is the first of its kind and we’re shaking up the category. We think a feta cheese and Za’atar popcorn is pretty cool, and that customers will respond,” says Alexander Harik, CEO.
Mediterranean popcorn is the second product from Zesty Z. The new line extend the company’s product portfolio into snacking and compliments the Savory and Spicy Za’atar condiments already in market. Zesty Z is a national brand with Whole Foods Market and was founded in 2016 by mother-son duo Lorraine and Alexander Harik.
Za’atar, a popular Mediterranean thyme seasoning and cultural flavor, is part of the second wave of Mediterranean flavors entering the U.S. market. It’s often highlighted by chefs, restaurants, and in the media. Alexander adds, “We’re filling a flavor gap in CPG. Consumers eat out, taste Mediterranean flavors, and then want more of them. Yet, where are these flavors in the grocery store outside of the ethnic aisle?!” The airpopped snack will also be available direct to consumers via Amazon and the Zesty Z homepage.
