Waldorf Academy, a Waldorf school in Toronto Ontario, is offering an affordable tuition bursary for grade one students.
Rather than requiring an academic assessment as is generally the case for Waldorf schools, Waldorf Academy is searching for students with a passion for learning.
“We’re looking for grade one students that are curious, love art, singing and nature,” says Jennifer Deathe, the school’s admissions manager.
In Ontario, there are two English language publicly funded school systems – the public school system, and the Catholic school system. However, there are alternative school options available, but parents often consider them to be out of reach for all but the wealthiest.
“We don’t want finances to get in the way of a family wanting a Waldorf education for their child,” Deathe continues. “We want to encourage families that may have not considered a private, independent education but are seeking a creative alternative to public school with proven results.”
Waldorf Academy is holding two special events on three different dates to help parents find out more about what a Waldorf education entails.
During the grade one info sessions, prospective parents will have the chance to meet with Jennifer Deathe, the school’s admissions manager, take a tour of Waldorf Academy, and learn about the grade one curriculum. These are taking place on July 24th from 10-11 am and 4-5pm, and July 27th from 10-11 am.
Waldorf Academy will also be holding a single “meet the grade one teacher” session, where prospective parents and students will have a chance to experience a unique Waldorf teaching method called a “main lesson”. This is taking place on August 8th from 10:30-11:30 am
Waldorf Academy is an accredited school in the Waldorf tradition. After having been introduced by Rudolf Steiner in 1919, it has since grown to become the world’s largest educational movement, with over 1100 Waldorf schools in 80 countries.
