Minnesota based fishing blog Occasional Fisher has brought on William Netwal as a new writer as it prepares for rapid growth in the coming year.

Minneapolis Minnesota fishing blog, the Occasional Fisher has announced that William Netwal has joined the blogs writing staff.

William has been an avid fisher all his life – ‘since he was born’ – according to the author notes on his recent posts to the site. Whether or not he practiced casting in his mother’s womb, you can be sure that fishing is one of his primary loves.

“I hope that I can use my love and knowledge of fishing to help educate all levels of anglers,” he says. Currently, fly fishing has caught his fancy, and he has been spending some of his winter days tying flies for the coming season.

William grew up in the western Minnesota town of Glenwood, virtually on the shores of Lake Minnewaska. Together with his father, Dean they explored not just Minnewaska but lots of Minnesota’s other fine fisheries.

The Occasional Fisher focuses on fishing information and tips aimed at the part time – once in a while fisher. The everyday guy and gal who enjoys fishing, but sometimes finds it hard to get away.

“There are lots of resources for the pro and the advanced serious fishermen and women,” says site owner “Bobberhead Bob.“ “We are trying to be a resource for the other guy, who may not know all the ins and outs of the sport.”

Articles vary from Filleting a Sunfish and What to Look for When Buying a Fillet Knife to articles on Buzzbait fishing.

Bringing William on is an effort to revitalize the site which has been somewhat inactive over the past year due to other pressing commitments. “With new blood on board, we expect to up the ante quite a bit,” Bobberhead continues.

“Every other person in Minnesota fishes at least a little. We want to help them enjoy the sport more and catch more fish while they are at it,” says Bob.

In addition to the blog, the Occasional Fisher has a Facebook page and multiple other social media properties designed to spread the word.

2018 looks to be a year of growth for the blog.
