Milton, ON—Wilcox Bodies Limited have shifted from functioning as a Truck Body and Equipment manufacturer to supplying products to assist in the fight against COVID-19.

Now a temporary COVID-19 Equipment Manufacturer, the company has designed an upfit kit for pick up trucks as well as a version to transform trailers and airline baggage carts into mobile disinfectant carts. These mobile systems are suitable for both inside and outside use in all public areas. The disinfecting spray that they emit can cover a large area without requiring any extra space. This transformation will dramatically improve the ability to disinfect different areas with speed and intensity.

“These disinfectant systems will play a significant role in keeping the public safe”, says David Dick, Vice President of Wilcox Bodies Limited. “Disinfecting public places such as city playgrounds, shopping malls, hospitals, and public transportation areas is of the upmost importance now in our fight against COVID-19 and will be just as important after we defeat this battle. Our team is working hard to quickly design systems which can be utilized with existing industry equipment, giving the ability for many industries, including landscapers, contractors and ground support personnel to help.”

With hospital staff is facing a shortage of equipment on a global scale, Wilcox engineers are working on developing products to help with the medical supply deficit. Mobile medical equipment tables, dirty linen carts, face shields and basic patient beds are the new focus of the Wilcox. Hospital staff can use the carts to assist in different situations, and Wilcox Bodies has stated more uses are available.

The company made this switch once it determined that it could produce these kits using the standard available equipment that Wilcox Group of Companies already has functioning. With the necessary equipment already on-hand, production can happen promptly and in large scale if needed.

Wilcox Bodies have taken these steps in part of its efforts to improve a situation that has currently affected over 7,000 residents in Canada, and over 800,000 worldwide. The company is doing its part to combat the deadly pandemic and support Canadians nationwide and is ready to support those in need globally. By using all its equipment to assist in this fight in any way possible, the company has invested time and resources to produce COVID-19 defence products, alleviating stress for government procurement and allowing more resources to be available for medical professionals.
