What You Need to Know About Provincial and Private Campgrounds

The choice between provincial campgrounds and private ones i entirely dependent on individual campers and the experience they'd like to have when venturing into the great outdoors.

Camping is one of the best parts of the summer, where folks can pile into the RV, or load up a tent, and hit the road to spend some time in the great outdoors.

BC has some of the best campgrounds in the country, so it’s no wonder that the government’s online booking site fills quickly once it opens.

However, there are plenty of non-government campsites throughout BC, especially in the Okanagan, that provide campers with unique experiences and lasting memories.

There are a few differences between a government campground and a private one, both with their own pros and cons. A private park is run by an individual or a company who can set up the site however they choose with whatever amenities they think will bring in the most campers. A government campsite will be as undisturbed as possible, giving campers an ‘as close to nature as possible’ experience. So what type of campground is best will depend on the needs of individual campers.

As far as RV parks go, there are dozens of private and provincial campgrounds scattered throughout the Okanagan area, so there’s definitely no lack of options.

For example, the Farming Karma Orchard and RV park is ideal for those that want to experience the Okanagan, but want a completely unique perspective as well. Being within Kelowna city limits makes it easy to take in all the city has to offer while still having the very best RV camping experience.

Private campgrounds tend to have more amenities than a provincial one, often including food service, pools, and more. For those wanting to hike and experience nature in all it’s rugged beauty, then a provincial campground is likely a better choice.

No matter which people choose, campers both within and outside the province will have a great experience that will stay with them throughout their lives.
