Early registration now available for girls and boys ages 7-9 and 10-13 to learn robotics, programming and tech skills in small, fun, closely supervised classes, Waxhaw Kid Coders reports

Early registration is now open for the 2015 Waxhaw Kid Coders Robots, Code, and Drones summer camp sessions in historic downtown Waxhaw. With fourteen individual week-long sessions for both boys and girls ages 7 through 9 as well as ages 10 through 13, children at the camp will have the opportunity to learn computer programming and technology skills in a fun, supportive environment.

Camp activities for younger children will center around the widely lauded LEGO® WEDO construction set, helping campers learn the basics of model design and creation and coding. Campers in the 10 through 13 age group will focus on designing, building, and programming more advanced LEGO® MINDSTORMS® robots, thereby gaining fundamental coding skills that will serve them well as they mature and progress further. The new Robots, Code, and Drones summer camp for 2015 in Waxhaw, NC, follows on the success and popularity of Waxhaw Kid Coders' workshops, so spots are expected to fill up quickly.

"We're excited to announce that early registration is now open for our seven 2015 Robots, Code, and Drones camp sessions," Waxhaw Kid Coders founder and Chief Code Coach Ken Adelglass said, "There's no more effective or enjoyable way for kids to learn technology and coding skills, and early interest in the camp has been tremendous."

Established in 2014 on the basis of what Adelglass learned as he sought entertaining ways to teach his own 12-year-old son the fundamentals of computer programming, Waxhaw Kid Coders has a mission of helping young people acquire skills that will serve them well for a lifetime. The company's workshop offerings, which have students tackling tasks ranging from assembling and programming Kano computer kits to working with MIT's Scratch learning framework, have proven to be popular, entertaining, and highly effective ways of introducing children to valuable digital skills.

The robots, code and drones summer camp in Waxhaw, NC this summer will build on the lessons learned through the Waxhaw Kid Coders workshops, providing even more immersive and valuable opportunities to campers. With a maximum of 10 children in each group supervised by both a lead and assistant instructor, campers will enjoy 3-hour classes Monday through Friday in either the morning or afternoon, with pizza or ice cream parties concluding each week-long session. In addition to working with either LEGO® WEDO or MINDSTORMS®, campers will also finish up their sessions by taking video with flying drones, thereafter editing the footage they create.

Those interested in complete details on Waxhaw Kid Coders summer camp and workshop offerings can find them at the Waxhaw Kid Coders website. With early registration having just opened for the 2015 summer camp, spots are still available, but Waxhaw Kid Coders representatives expect that they will fill quickly.
