Gisèle A. Lubsen is a critically acclaimed conceptual underwater photographer, originally from Amsterdam, Holland, now based in Santa Monica, California, whose work has been exhibited and published all around the world conjuring a strong emphasis on female empowerment and transformation.

Her photography, entirely shot underwater, simultaneously creates a unique photographic studio and a spiritual transformational experience. The final images adjure the intense, provoking imagery of Caravaggio’s paintings, but captured in live motion, with living, vibrant models.

Much of her work focuses on Ancient Greek Mythology, and uses these archetypes to create beautiful narratives about human relationships, and when captured through her lens underwater, become timeless.

In this mythical exhibition at the prestigious Venice Bienale art event this summer, Gisèle A. Lubsen will present a cutting edge new way of sharing her art with her audiences through her collaboration with Lenticolart, an innovative Italian creative agency specializing in 3-D reality. The exhibition will bring all viewers into an interactive underwater experience with this technique as if being submerged with the model underwater, adding a level of vibrancy and realism never seen before.

Many of the art pieces at the show will include the incredible designs by predominantly blind fashion designer Xandra Krahe who owns fashion brand L-x-e-r-y by Xandra. Together they collaborate in this exhibition by painting below the surface of the water with vigorous women wearing Xandra’s Shakric dreamy silk gowns giving the photographs another worldly hued and layered depth.

The exhibition will then travel to Fame Gallery in Zurich, Switzerland after Venice, Italy.
