San Diego based software & solutions firm UE.co is proud to announce their support of Special Olympics San Diego through a $20,000 sponsorship and volunteer work.
The sponsorship, totaling $20,000, will help provide practice venues, sporting equipment, coaches training and uniforms for athletes. UE employees have also committed to volunteering as coaches, “buddies,” event staff and cheerleaders for athletes.
“The Special Olympics is an incredible program, and one that UE is proud to support,” said Jason Kulpa, CEO of UE.co. “We’ve seen first hand just how impactful these events are on not only the athletes, but those watching as well.”
Through sports, health and education, The Special Olympics Movement dramatically transforms lives by unifying people with and without intellectual disabilities to end discrimination and create inclusion. The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports including floor-hockey, basketball, soccer and track & field for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families and other athletes in the community.
In addition to the donation to the sports side of The Special Olympics, UE.co has agreed to support the Global Messengers, a program providing Special Olympic Athletes public speaking training and opportunities to practice as a team in an encouraging environment.
“Special Olympics San Diego is very excited and thankful to be entering this partnership with UE.co, an organization that supports their local community in such an impactful way,” said Brian Richter, Regional Director of The Special Olympics San Diego. “With UE.co’s contributions, both financially and through their volunteerism, Special Olympics San Diego can position for growth across all four sports seasons offered to more than 1,100 community athletes.”
