— Two Newly Graduates Got New Building Contract of an Aesthetic Clinic
Ang Mo Kio, Singapore - It was a great start for two newly graduated architecture students from the International University of Construction. Just three months after graduation and without even taking up the licensure examinations, Henry Xi and Devon Wang have landed their first jobs as the contractor for the new building of Healthsprings Laser & Aesthetic Clinic. The two is yet to undergo on-the-job training for two years before they will be allowed to take up the licensure examinations.
This is a breakthrough according to the University’s Dean of the College of Architecture. In an interview with Alibaba Printing, Dean James Key said that “those two were among our top students. However, since they do not have the license yet, they are required by the law to be under a licensed architect. They approached me and asked if I will be their mentor and guide once again, and I agreed. This project is their project and I’m just here because the law obliges us. But the whole floor plan was theirs, I was just here to confirm that they are doing it correctly.”
The Chamber of Architecture was also surprised with their client’s preference. It is not usual for clients as big as them to trust “unlicensed architects”. “Technically, these two aren’t architects, but just mere architecture graduates. However, the client believes in them and they want them badly.” The interest of the clients started after the two won the Annual Architecture Students Conference last year. Their winning piece is a model for a 7-storey hospital, which is what they will be doing for the aesthetic clinic. You may view their plan perspective at http://www.healthsprings.com.sg/.
