Trending recording artist / music producer, Joe Vecchio, released his Debut EP under his own name this week. The self produced EP includes 3 songs which blend rock, pop and a lot in-between. The songs can be heard on Joe’s website joevecch.io
Joe Vecchio is the singer / songwriter in addition to being the musician playing the electric guitars to the beats he self produced. He created his own lyrics as well which often act as song anthems. The lyrics are simple and somewhat repetitive. His vocals sound kind of rock influenced but definitely infuse an element of dark pop.
The musical instrumentation which makes up the sound of Joe Vecchio consists of hip hop styled drum beats, distorted electric guitar, synth bass and piano. The overall effect of this sound pallet is unique because of how Joe utilizes simplicity and minimalism in his music.
The first song of the EP is titled “watchin’ a movie” and starts out with a disco pop beat where the rock guitars then come in followed by a couple vocal lines and then finally the piano hook. Joe works layering into his compositions wisely as the staggered intro of each part compliments the next instrument and part. This songwriting style can be found throughout all 3 songs.
The second song is titled “it’s life” and resonates with sadness as the lyrics are about how people die before their time. Despite the sorrow one might feel while listening to this song the hooks are catchy and grooving.
The third and last song of Joe’s debut EP is titled “it’s ok” and starts out with a vocal hook by itself which is then backed by a hard hitting hip hop like rock beat before the distorted electric guitars ring out followed by the catchy piano hook.
