/PressCable/ — Frederick Tree Service warns Frederick County, Maryland residents and businesses of the dangers that trees can cause during summer thunderstorms. Area residents are all too familiar with the kind of damage that can occur when a sever storm springs up.
On July 9, 2014, a band of violent thunderstorms tore through Frederick County knocking out power lines and blowing trees over onto homes, car, and even people seeking shelter. This storm resulted in one death and eight injuries in neighboring Carroll County.
“People tend not to think about trees as being dangerous and fortunately they rarely are”, says owner of Frederick Tree Service and lead arborist Cesar Olarte. “But trees that aren't properly trimmed or left standing when dead can cause massive damage to property during the types of storms we often see in our area during the summer. In the most severe cases, as we have seen in recent weeks, trees can even be deadly”.
Olarte suggests that any tree that shows signs of weakness or disease should be removed to prevent these kinds of tragedies from occuring. Even healthy trees can have limbs that should be pruned properly to avoid bcoming projectiles in a high wind condition.

“Proper care of trees on your property should be considered for all seasons,” adds Olarte, “but we tend to see the most damage caused during the ‘dog days' of summer. Sometimes the best defense is a little foresight and preparation. Frederick Tree Service provides free tree evaluation during these times to help determine if preventive measure should be taken.”
He also reminds area residents that “emergency tree removal is often a lot more expensive than a typical tree trimming and pruning job and the cost of tree services is a fraction of what it would cost in terms of property repair”.
