Three people were killed when two trains traveling in opposite directions struck a vehicle in Westbury, Long Island, Tuesday, February 26, 2019.According to New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials, the vehicle’s driver attempted to get around the crossing gates when it was hit by a slow-moving eastbound train pulling out of the Westbury station. Another train, which was going westbound at full-speed, then crashed into the vehicle as well, derailing and hitting a platform. All three occupants of the car were killed. Seven train passengers were brought to hospitals with non-fatal injuries.
