Web design agency Rouge Media has revealed its innovative new website design for Slough Public Health. The new website successfully engages with traditionally disenfranchised groups of users and will be hugely beneficial to the public who access the site.

Providing health services to the residents and employees of Slough Borough Council, the Public Health website seeks to promote healthy living and reduce health inequalities. Rouge Media have produced a site which is interactive and easy to navigate, encouraging different groups of users to engage with healthcare advice that is relevant to them, including weight management, physical activity, healthy eating and smoking cessation services. Information about children and young peoples’ services such as healthy eating, physical activity, sedentary behaviour, resilience building and well being can also be found on the website, as well as links to other websites and services. The site, therefore, needs to appeal to an extraordinarily diverse group of people and allow them to successfully navigate it to find the information they need.

A company spokesperson from Rouge Media explained that: “This is a site that, potentially, every resident in Slough could be using. That means that we needed to make it easily accessible, relevant and enjoyable to use for everyone. We’ve made sure that it’s suitable for people with learning disabilities, with visual impairments and those who speak languages other than English. Visitors to the site can easily identify services which might help them, be that physical services or online support and advice. We’ve also made the site more interactive by including polls and links to NHS quizzes. People visiting the site might be of any age or gender and they will all have different needs and goals. Our challenge was to ensure that every person who visits the site finds what they need in an easy and enjoyable way.”

The new website for Slough Public Health required a forward thinking and original web design agency to deliver the project. Rouge Media have produced a dynamic and adventurous website which empowers the people of Slough to take charge of their own health and to access the services which could help them. The site is not only successful in this goal, but it is also highly inclusive of all its users.
