Madison was one of three Tim Morehouse Fencing Club Students to bring home medals for Team USA.
Fencing Club finished #1 in the country in Youth Saber Fencing and #2 in the country overall at the US National Summer Championships.— Tim Morehouse Fencing Club, the NYC and Westchester fencing clubs taught by Olympians, is proud to announce that one of its students, Madison Duckett, won the Gold Medal at the Pan American Youth Championships for Team USA. Her brother, Myles Duckett, received a bronze medal in the Youth Boys event, and Gabriel McCarthy also took the bronze medal in the Pre-Cadet boy's event. The success of these fencers in taking international medals is the cornerstone of a historical 2019 season in which Tim Morehouse
Thirteen-year-old Madison Duckett (Greenwich, Conn.) brought home a gold medal for Team USA with her victory in the Pre-Cadet event at the Pan American Youth Championship which were held Aug. 27-31 in Cuchamba, Bolivia. Despite this being her first international competition, Madison, who has just begun competing on the national fencing circuit in 2018 and who has only just started fencing in 2017 showed dominant form throughout the tournament. She went undefeated through the seeding rounds and won handily in the finals where she defeated Sofia Jimenez of Chile 10-2.
Madison’s younger brother, 11-year-old Myles Duckett (Greenwich, Conn.) also earned a podium finish in Bolivia, taking Bronze in the Youth B men’s saber event. Twelve-year-old Gabriel McCarthy (New York City, N.Y.) followed his gold in the Youth B men’s saber event last year with a Bronze in the Pre-Cadet competition.
The success of these fencers in taking international medals is another significant accomplishment in what has been a breakthrough season for the club. This past year, Tim Morehouse Fencing Club finished #1 in the country in Youth Saber Fencing, #2 in the country overall at the US National Summer Championships and qualified its first fencer, Nicka Lortkipnidze, to the Cadet World Championship team for Team USA.
According to Tim Morehouse, "We are very proud of the accomplishments of our three students at the Pan American Youth Championships. Madison’s gold medal, as well as the Bronze medals, won by Gabriel McCarthy and Myles Duckett make everyone at our club very proud. The future is very bright for all of them and we look forward to winning more medals on the international stage and hopefully at the Olympics in the future.”
Despite its recent founding, Tim Morehouse Fencing Club has established itself as a highly competitive fencing club, with multiple Youth-10 boys and girl fencers ranked in the top 10 of their respective divisions. It recently opened up a Greenwich, CT fencing club to provide another quality club for fencers and it has 2 locations in Manhattan, one in Larchmont and another in Westchester County.
