Theo & Harris, a new online boutique for vintage watches, is leading the crusade against modernity. The goal of Theo & Harris is to re-popularize the mainstream appreciation of mechanical watches, tools of yesterday, because they were made with attention, care, and to meet a standard of quality that rarely exists today. But more than that, Theo & Harris want to promote old fashioned community support. To do this, these dealers of vintage watches donates a percentage of sales to two important and well established New York City agencies.The Bowery Mission and Coalition for the Homeless are the recipients of sales of antique watches from Theo & Harris. These watches include antique Omega, Longines, Rolex, Seiko, Heuer, Wyler and Timex, amongst others. The prices are kept very low in order to encourage people to buy a watch for themselves or as a gift. This way, there is more proceeds to help those in need of warm shelter, food, medical and educational assistance.
When asked about their means of acquisition, Christian Zeron, founder of Theo & Harris, comments, "Myself, along with a small team of enthusiasts, work to source the absolute top examples of the most humbly beautiful vintage watches. Our team searches from forums to nostalgia shops, and only bring the best, at the best prices, to the public. Theo & Harris work hard, do all of the sourcing and sifting, and take all of the risk, so our customers don't have to."
Further, on the genesis of Theo & Harris, Zeron stated "When I finally decided I was fed up with being pressured into buying new and gouged watches when I bought vintage, I thought up Theo & Harris. That was in October of 2014, and by February of 2015, the online shops debut doubled as its first day of publication on HODINKEE’s "What's Selling Where". That was just the beginning. Frankly, this is still the beginning, and we are ready to spread the word to the public."
Due to the grassroots nature of this philanthropic minded antique watch shop, marketing is done mostly through word of mouth. Through this word of mouth marketing, both vintage watch enthusiasts and community minded individuals are becoming avid fans of this new, yet old fashioned antique watch shop.
