The Waldorf School Postcard Exchange – A Worldwide Collaboration

Waldorf Education turns 100 years old in 2019, and to commemorate this event Toronto's Waldorf Academy will be participating in an international postcard exchange.

Waldorf Academy is participating in a worldwide postcard exchange initiative to both broaden the global perspective of students and kick-off the 100 year celebration of Waldorf® Education planned for 2019.

Throughout the current year, students in 1,100 Waldorf schools from more than 80 countries will send a postcard to every other Waldorf school in the world. Each postcard is being individually designed by a young person, telling or showing something about their country, school, or self.

This innovative global project will connect hundreds of thousands of students to one another through individualized and artistically designed postcards, which will then be arranged, by each school, into a global map for public display.

“Waldorf Academy is proud to be a part of this million-fold greeting from around the globe,” says Jennifer Deathe, admissions manager for Waldorf Academy in Toronto.

At the end of the project, every Waldorf school on Earth will have a collection of postcards from every other Waldorf school, fostering a sense of international unity as well as a stronger Waldorf community.

This will also provide students with an opportunity to get an up-close view of everyday life for other students their age in other parts of the world.

As part of Waldorf Education’s commitment to the environment, each card will be made from carbon-neutral paper and inked with environmentally friendly inks. This is made possible through Waldorf Education’s eco-friendly printing partner, Lokay e.K.

Waldorf Academy is an accredited school in the Waldorf tradition. After having been introduced by Rudolf Steiner in 1919, it has since grown to become the world’s largest educational movement, with over 1100 Waldorf schools in 80 countries.

For more than 30 years, Waldorf Academy has been providing a quality alternative to primary school-aged children in Toronto. Founded in 1987, Waldorf Academy is located near the beautiful Casa Loma, close to the Dupont subway at 250 Madison Avenue.

Waldorf 100 is an international celebration of 100 years of Waldorf Education. Along with the postcard campaign, Waldorf 100 has a number of other projects, including the creation of bee sanctuaries in all their schools, a marathon around the world, and drama and musical projects.
