The man behind themilliondollarcar.com has announced the launch of its online sponsorship opportunity – sponsoring The Million Dollar Car. The million-dollar car is a unique marketing experiment, because the sponsored car is not a race car. In fact, it is a Tesla Model 3. The goal of this unique marketing method is to promote the sponsors on the car online, while the car itself is paid for by the sponsors – you could say it will be a free Tesla.“I had been inspired by the million-dollar homepage when it first came out 15 years ago,” says Jan. “I wanted to offer something to businesses which would result in a lot of media exposure. And I hope that I have achieved that with themilliondollar.com,” he added.
This rare but brilliant way of marketing consists a virtual car split into hexagons. Each hexagon is available for purchase as sponsorship for 12 months and is being sold for $1,800. The best thing about this marketing strategy is that the sponsor’s logo will be featured on the themilliondollarcar.com website as well as on the car.
Apart from being featured on the website and on the car, Jan has put a marketing campaign in motion that involves videos, podcasts, and media posts. “I am not raising a million-dollars,” Jan laughs, “but I do want a million dollars’ worth of exposure for all the sponsors.”
