The Crafty Attic, the popular, kid-friendly, walk-in, do-it-yourself arts & crafts studio, recently announced the opening of its second location in Emerald Isle. The expansion is being driven by strong growth in customer demand. Catering to the full range of craft enthusiasts, from novice to expert, The Crafty Attic provides the supplies and guidance to help customers enjoy a fun activity and make a unique souvenir, gift, or home décor item.“We’re in the experience business,” said Tina Rowe, owner of The Crafty Attic. “So often, customers come looking for an activity for the children, but what they really make, in addition to something fun to take home, are memories. We are here to guide you every step of the way.”
Project choices at The Crafty Attic include painting one’s own pottery, designing jewelry, performing glass fusion, painting on boards and canvas, making mosaics, building wood projects and handling or forming clay. Glass fusion, for example, involves selecting a glass base and then taking different colored and sized pieces of glass (e.g. frit, rods, dots, etc.) to create a unique design. After setting the design with glue, The Crafty Attic fires the piece in a glass kiln. This causes the glass to fuse into a single piece.
The company also runs a summer camp for children and “Kid’s Club” for year-round crafting activities. The site is available as a location for parties. “A lot of families have discovered how much fun it can be to do a crafting birthday party,” Rowe added.
