Plaxen & Adler, P.A., is proud to announce that Taylor Cunningham, a 2L law student at the University of Minnesota Law School, is the 2016 recipient of the Plaxen & Adler Civil Trial Advocacy Scholarship. Taylor Cunningham is the second recipient of the award.“We are incredibly proud of Taylor,” said senior partner Bruce Plaxen. “We strive to find candidates who embody all of the elements we look for: a strong desire to pursue justice on behalf of those who are injured, or whose rights have been violated; a commitment to diversity and inclusion; and the goal of becoming a civil trial attorney. Between Taylor’s scholarship inside and outside of the classroom, his excellent letters of reference, and his work with groups like the American Association for Justice LGBT caucus and the Litigation and Trial Advocacy Group, we feel he is the perfect choice for this award. Taylor Cunningham is originally from Oklahoma. His anticipated graduation date is May of 2018. Bruce Plaxen awarded Taylor with the scholarship at the American Association for Justice convention in Los Angeles this July.
About the 2016 Plaxen & Adler Civil Trial Advocacy Scholarship
The Plaxen & Adler Civil Trial Advocacy Scholarship was started in 2014, to help ease some of the financial burdens facing law students. Each year, the firm awards $2500 to a student who is either currently studying the law, or is a college senior who has been accepted into an accredited institution to study law. To be considered eligible, that student must have demonstrated:
• An interest in pursuing a career as a civil trial attorney
• An interest in civil trial advocacy, and in a fair Civil Justice system
• A desire to represent the injured and those whose rights have been violated
• Outstanding and promising scholarship in his or her classes
• Commitment to promoting inclusion and diversity
All applicants must submit a resume, a letter or essay of no more than 1000 words explaining how they meet the criteria, and up to three recommendations.
