For all the riches Thailand has, many of its people still face financial struggles. Rural schools are often under-funded and its students’ families rarely have the opportunity to splurge on luxuries.
— In an effort to make a small, but positive change, the owners of Panumart Tattoo have raised funds and collected goods to donate.
Panumart Ahm, a co-owner and artist at Panumart Tattoo, said “over the last month I’ve created a promotion where customers can not only receive a heavily discounted tattoo, but where 100% of the revenue will be donated towards education. By including my customers into this mission, I hope to encourage them to continue helping others. The proceeds from this promotion will go to a school in the Thai province of Tak, located on the Thai border with Myanmar. The school’s population is made up of kids from one of Thailand’s ethnic minorities, the Karen people. Besides giving money to the school, we’ll be donating toys and clothes to the children.”
Panumart Ahm and her husband, Ryan, are no strangers to charity. Last year they visited Kolkata to take three sponsored children and their families on a shopping spree. They sponsor those kids and six others through Children International. After making the trip to Tak for the donations, the couples and owners of the Chiang Mai tattoo shop will share a blog post on their website, http://thai.tattoo/.
