Adora is a leather tote bag designed in NY and handcrafted in Vinci (Florence, Italy) to support small family-owned manufactures with an eco-sustainable production chain.After three years on business in the USA (sold exclusively online at www.Armadio.com), and 1,200 pieces sold in 12 colors, Adora is ready for a restyle.
And we are launching an Indiegogo campaign here to fund the production of the new Adora.
Supporting small family-owned manufactures: this project stands for the undiscovered Artisans of Italy, who deserve to be known for their own creations, without disappearing behind the logo of the big names they usually are forced to work for. Adora employs them at fair terms, so that they don’t have to become a mass-production workforce for the dominant big brands. On the opposite, they can maintain their high-quality standards by producing only small batches of bags at the time, constantly throughout the year, while the fashion industry forces them to mass-produce seasonally with long periods of inactivity in the middle.
Eco-sustainable production model: the production of Adora is entirely sustainable: all materials employed are actually the result of the over-production commanded to the tanneries by the luxury industry. This way Adora not only “recycles” leftover luxury materials, but also massively cuts the production of materials which are known to contribute to the world pollution.
Specs of Adora: in 2014, an all-women team of New York fashion connoisseurs came together to design Adora. They all had a completely different background – from CEO to Creative Director to Working Mum - and they joined forces to create a bag that would be able to meet ALL their needs for daily life in the city. Our Italian artisans crafted Adora in robust premium Tuscan leather, for her to be able to carry everything from Macbook, to make-up case, to gym weights.
Adora is a direct-to-consumer brand that cuts all middlemen and luxury industry markups by allowing Italian family-owned businesses to access the US market directly, and that supports a sustainable business model for the fashion industry.
