“Giving builds both community and individuals,” explains Summit Family Dentistry’s Dr. Richard Harvey. “We have the very best patients in the world. They give so much in our community, we feel a great responsibility to follow their example and lift where we can, serve others, and be an influence for good.”“As part of the medical field, Summit is especially sensitive to members of our community with medical problems or issues,” Dr. Harvey explains. In December of 2014, Summit Family challenged their patients--for every patient referral in December, Summit Family would donate a new coat to Mary’s Hope, an organization that helps those recovering from addiction. Amazingly, they donated 50 new coats to Mary's Hope this week! Said Dr. Harvey, “We couldn't have done it without the support of our patient family.”
Summit Family Dentistry reflects their patients’ and community’s generosity by harnessing the innate desire to help others. Charity is the voluntary action or actions that promote the welfare of others, expressed especially by the unselfish, generous, and benevolent donation of time, money, goods, or services to good causes. “When one person is touched by the charity of another, that spirit of giving flows outward. Both the giver and the receiver are influenced for the better!” Dr. Harvey acknowledges, “The effect of one charitable act cannot be measured.”
“Conscientious corporate philanthropy does not always have to be big,” Dr. Harvey concedes. “It is the small things that make great things happen.” To this end, Summit Family Dentistry is also sponsoring Dakota Ridge High School’s annual Think Pink Basketball game on February 6th. This basketball game honors breast cancer survivors in the community. “This is a huge, high-energy event,” Dr. Harvey shares. “We will provide gifts to the breast cancer survivors in attendance and hand out pink toothbrushes to remind everyone to do what they can--even if it is small--to lift those around them.”
