In the month of August, the Erik LaChance State Farm Agency hosted an online fundraiser for Out of the Pits in order to raise money for a local animal shelter, as well as highlight the agency’s non-discriminatory policy. During the social media blitz, the Erik LaChance agency donated $1 for every Facebook ‘like’ earned during the promotion.As a result, the agency raised $500 for Out of the Pits and will be attending their Fourth Annual Pit Bull Awareness Day on October 1st at the Brunswick Community Center in Troy, NY.
“Our agency is proud to be associated with a company like State Farm that doesn’t discriminate against dog breeds,” explains Erik LaChance, the lead agent. “Obviously, Out of the Pits is an amazing local organization and we felt this campaign would be a great way to initiate a long-term relationship with them.”
“I often refer people to State Farm. It’s great to have an agency that doesn’t discriminate against breeds,” explains Cydney Cross, President, and Founder of Out of the Pits. “Often, we get people who adopt dogs and are dropped by their insurance. That’s when we refer them to State Farm.”

With a team of certified therapy Pit Bulls, Out of the Pits visits dozens of schools in the Capital Region. The organization has rehomed over 3,000 dogs and educated thousands of children on the true nature of the Pit Bull breed.
