Set in the West Addison district of Chicago and built in 1914, Wrigley Field is the oldest National League ballpark, and the second oldest active major league ballpark in the country. With a 41,000 seating capacity, it is the latest venue to be selected by SportsTicketBank and will play host to over forty Chicago Cubs games during the 2015 calendar. Being the last major league park to have lights installed for play after dark, Wrigley Field is a firm favorite with fans and players alike.
The venue has also seen a lot of history since being established in the early 1900’s as it was the home for the Chicago Bears for a 49 year period between 1921 and 1970. Over the course of the next five years Wrigley Field is set to undergo vast improvements to several areas of the ground which include the stadium’s facade, infrastructure, restrooms, concourses, suites, press box, bullpens, and clubhouses, as well as the addition of restaurants, patio areas, batting tunnels, and a 5,700-square-foot jumbotron. Additionally, a hotel is also set to be built adjacent to the ground as well as a plaza and office retail complex.
Accessibility to the field has gone unchanged and is still as straight forward, with residential streets, bars, and restaurants encompassing the outer perimeter of the grounds. Rooftop seating at buildings adjacent to the Wrigley Field outfield remain an anomaly to major league baseball and ads to the historic ambiance of the venue.
