Southwestern College Appoints Social Media Expert Kalyn Bastion-Gerber As Vice-Chair Of The School’s Board Of Trustees.

Southwestern College in Santa Fe, which offers Master’s degrees in Counseling and Art Therapy, has fully embraced the mindset necessary to utilize digital and social media for the school. In addition to offering workshops for students and professionals, sharing information on blogs and their own social media outlets, and using social media as the university’s primary recruitment avenue, they have also appointed social media expert Kalyn Bastion-Gerber as the Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees.

“Our Board of Trustees is comprised of a fantastic assortment of people and professions,” says Dr. Jim Nolan, President of Southwestern College. “We have business professionals, counselors, therapists, even a shaman and a minister. However, as the school focuses more on Social Media outreach we wanted someone who can bridge the holistic and the business worlds to the benefit of the school. With this as a strength, Kalyn becomes a key member of a cutting edge leadership team.”

Kalyn Bastion-Gerber is an author and entrepreneur. She is the co-founder of Santa Fe based Social Media Pathways, which handles digital and social media for small business clients. She also shares a blog and podcast dedicated to social media and entrepreneurial mindset with her husband Karl. Kalyn is also the founder of the Maven Method TM and co-founder of the Golden Flow System TM of accelerated enlightenment and well-being.

“I think that Southwestern College has an amazing program,” says Bastion-Gerber. “As a holistic school they offer so much more than traditional ideologies. They incorporate a strong variety of experiences into the program and really work with students to apply their energies properly.”

Now in its 34th year, Southwestern College’s motto is Transforming Consciousness through Education. It is a graduate level institution that focuses on counseling and art therapy. Offering a holistic environment for learning, students undergo rigorous academic work that follows national standards for the Counseling and Art Therapy professions while also afforded opportunities for deeply meaningful interaction and sharing.
