Adelaide's Wellbeing and Resilience Centre Uses Positive Thinking for Prevention of Mental Illness

Los Angeles, California (August 8, 2014) – The Wellbeing and

Resilience Centre in the Adelaide-based South Australian Health and Medical

Research Institute announced it is developing modern principles for teaching

and promoting positive thinking among students in South Australia. These principles

will be used in over 200 schools in the region.

The medical staff of the Wellbeing and Resilience Centre

believes helping students change their mindset so they will think more

positively will decrease the likelihood of these young people developing mental

illness later in life.

Wellbeing and Resilience Centre director Gabrielle Kelly

said that people trained to think more effectively “may be able to prevent

themselves from falling into some the thinking traps that head people down

towards the mental illness curve.”

Jenna Newland, spokesperson for EnergyPositiv.com, an

information resource on positive thinking and creating positive energy,

stresses the importance of people developing a mindset for positive thinking as

early as possible.

“The power of positive thinking should be taught to

children in schools,” states Newland. “Positive thinking, coupled by

positive action, sets children up to become healthier and more successful

adults.”

Newland adds, “Children who are positive thinkers are

more resilient against bullying and peer pressure. They are also more capable

of handling stressful situations more productively.”

In addition, Director Kelly stated that proper fitness,

nutrition and sleep are also important factors in promoting positive mental

health among students. She also said it's important to note that things can

still go wrong despite having a positive attitude.

“Things do go wrong,” according to Ms. Kelly,

“but it's a question of what you do about it when normal life-challenges

hit you.”
