Charlotte’s most beloved children’s art class studios has successfully relocated and expanded to include a full working pottery and ceramics studio. Plans were in the works last year and construction completed this summer, just in time for the beginning of art summer camp.

Small Hands Big Art founder Jennifer Bryant and her team have a unique flair for creating fun, creative projects for each age group, as well as staying highly organized. The new studio allows for extra space accommodations and each student is given their own supplies for each project. Additional health precautions are being taken along with outside drop off and pickup to keep the studio space as clean as possible. Jennifer states, “I’m very excited to be opening our pottery studio at a time when both kids and adults need a creative, therapeutic outlet more than ever.”

Studies show that expressing creativity and learning new skills like pottery that build the hand-eye-brain connection create an overall improvement in quality of life. Pottery has been shown to lower stress, increase focus and optimism, as well as provide a relaxing environment for low stress social interaction. Children and adults alike can benefit from working with ceramics.

The experienced ceramics instructors at Small Hands Big Art are equipped to teach hand building, pinch pot, coil building, slab construction and hand throwing techniques to children, teens and adults. Classes are offered throughout the day Monday through Saturday. The studio and teachers are also available for private sessions for neighborhood learning pods, homeschool classes, private classes and pottery parties.

Students ages 6 and up are invited to enroll in pottery classes as space allows. Learning to work with clay is beneficial for all ages and has specific benefits for children just starting in art. Practicing the activity of creating in three dimensions with the malleable clay engages the brain differently than other two dimensional mediums.

Owner and founder Jennifer Bryant states, “Our studio is the only one of its kind for the Ballantyne and South Charlotte area. We are thrilled to be able to expand our studio space and offerings so that more children and adults can experience the joy of creating their own artwork. We’re glad to be able to provide options for parents and students who are looking for enrichment activities that they can enjoy safely.”
