Sharon Quintero, Hope Blanchard, and Judy Wine Named Outstanding Petroleum Woman Award Winners by Meridian Associates.

Leading Petroleum family business guides Meridian Associates, Inc. hosted their 6th annual ‘Women in Petroleum’ event June 25-26 at the One Ocean Resort and Spa in Atlantic Beach, Florida. This two-day event is tailored to help dynamic women leaders in the Petroleum industry respond to the unique challenges they face. This year saw a group of women leaders engage in mastermind groups with other top industry leaders, strategy sessions, and focused networking opportunities. Three women were honored in the 2019 Outstanding Petroleum Woman Awards, the highlight of the entire event.

The Outstanding Petroleum Woman Award recognizes professional women in the Petroleum industry for the outstanding contributions they make to their teammates and businesses. Nominees were judged on many factors including their company contributions, their overall impact on the industry, leadership qualities, and their contributions to those around them in the community. Starting with an online nomination, the Top 10 were selected, phone interviews were conducted, and finally an outside panel of non-Petroleum businesswomen chose the winners. This was the first year three amazing women were honored, two in the Non-Owner category, and one in the Owner award category.

The first award winner of the night in the Non-Owner category was Sharon Quintero, Retail Supervisor, Home Oil Company. For 48 years Sharon has done whatever is necessary to create an amazing retail experience for customers, from store cleaning to computer systems and everything in between. She’s also been a mentor to many leaders over the years (including the man that later became her husband!) In her own words, “I have loved every minute in retail. I’ve had a wonderful life with no regrets.” Her advice: Speak your mind, women should be heard.

The second award winner in the Non-Owner category was Hope Blanchard of Richard Oil. Her company owner said that after 35 years in business, not only is Hope one of the finest people they’ve worked with, she would be the first employee they’d think of if they had to start the business over. She’s compassionate, makes time to help others no matter her workload, and her work is perfect. She embodies everything a truly professional and successful woman should be. Her advice to other women: Be confident in yourself and do the right thing even when no one is looking.

The 2019 Owner Award went to Judy Wine of E. E. Wine and Wine Energy. With 58 years of experience in the Petroleum industry, she calls her employees her mission field, and is always quick to meet needs whenever they come up. Her son calls her “the glue that holds the company together”, and her commitment to the finest customer service and her unconventional approach to problem solving has helped the company overcome various challenges over the years. She has set a very high bar, one easy to admire but hard to match. Judy says that her greatest accomplishment is being a good listener to others. Her advice to other women: Accept change on a daily basis.
