UK cladding, stone, and facade restoration specialists, See Brilliance, are aiming to tackle the rising problem of how pollution affects urban environments. Beginning a campaign of education alongside their services, they aim to help restore the cities of Britain.

In response to the newfound relationship between general pollution and the cleanliness of Britain’s cities, facade restoration specialist See Brilliance has announced their dedication to restoring the faces of British cities. The company’s services aim at improving the visual appeal of a city, while also providing education to other businesses in becoming cleaner and greener through their industry-focused CPD training sessions

Recent reports show that the three biggest cities in the UK, London, Birmingham, and Manchester, are some of the largest contributors to the overall total pollution of the country, with London contributing 11% of the total. Urban pollution is a rising problem, caused by a greater reliance on vehicles and transport that burn fossil fuels, construction of other buildings, the greater use of utilities, and industrial heating.

This pollution has a visual impact on the local environment, which includes not only causing wear and tear and discolouration to surrounding buildings, but also a negative effect on plants and insects in the natural environment. This degradation of the environment affects the residents’ attitude towards their environment, often causing them to behave in ways that further worsen the environment.

See Brilliance is aiming to tackle the growing problem of urban pollution and how it affects local communities and environments, not only by providing facade restoration services, but by providing education to other businesses as to the problem through focused CPD training sessions.

“In large cities like London and Manchester, we regularly see the negative impact that environmental neglect can have on the city’s residents. It’s almost as if there’s a type of top-down ripple effect which occurs as a result of the treatment of the environment in an area,” says Nigel Bennett, Technical Director of See Brilliance. “See Brilliance has been working in commercial restorative cleaning for over thirty years, undertaking cleaning and restorative works on buildings in the UK’s largest and most vibrant cities. We specialise in restoring the appearance of buildings, many of which have suffered from years of general pollution from the inner-city atmosphere as well as contaminants from other building works in close proximity.”

“Whilst our work doesn’t always have a quantifiable impact on the immediate environment in which we work, it does make a difference to the way the area looks and feels. We typically work on large buildings with several stories. These types of building make a notable impact on the landscape of a town or city,” says Bennett. “ Using specialist cleaning techniques like DOFF Steam Cleaning, our operatives can remove almost any contaminants from the façade of a building, and at any height, to make it shine like new again. The outcome of reduced pollution, and removing the need to replace costly building facades and materials, is extremely positive for building owners, local councils and residents.”
