(PressCable 04, 2014) Alpharetta, GA – Leader of the US Small Business Administration, Maria Contreras-Sweet, jumped on a live stream Google Hangout last Wednesday with a small group of entrepreneurs and small business owners to talk about the Government's initiatives to help SMBs with Government backed SBA loans, expert business counselling and contracts.

Contreras-Sweet was keen to stress the Government's desire to give as much help as possible to small-medium size businesses and entrepreneurs to enable them to prosper and grow to the next level. Perhaps not surprising given the revelation that close to fifty percent of private-sector jobs come from small businesses, which clearly represents the backbone to economic vibrancy.

Financial support was naturally a big topic of discussion, during which Contreras-Sweet explained what the SBA was doing to help small business entrepreneurs with finance and support.

She said that micro loans were being made available for businesses needing Government backed finance of less than $50,000.

For more established businesses needing additional capital to grow their business, SBA loans, called Community Advantage Loan, was being made available up to $150,000.

Contreras-Sweet also spoke about incubators and grants to very small businesses and startups as well as connecting seasoned executives and entrepreneurs with SMBs that need business guidance of one kind or another.

The SBA leader also stepped through how technology can help small companies do business with less investment.

Fitting as it was that Contreras-Sweet should use the Google Hangout platform to reach out to entrepreneurs to spread the word of the SBA's small and medium business initiatives.

The Google Hangout Platform, which is a free to use online tool, recently had an update in just the last week, making the app more intuitive to use, more integrated with Gmail and more accessible to users. You can check out here DigitalJournal's news story on how the Hangout update could prove to be a boon to SMB entrepreneurs.

The Google Hangout interview with Contreras-Sweet is a good illustration of the potential power and use of the Hangouts platform for business use.
