The launch of the West Coast Tire & Services diesel repair and service center provides the OC with mechanics trained in the unique specifications of diesel technology.
Diesel is the fuel of choice for many heavier-duty applications because it produces 12 percent more energy per gallon than refined gasoline and diesel prolongs engine life, according to the California Energy Commission.
While the diesel vehicle cost of maintenance is relatively low, it is critical to engine life and performance that service is performed regularly by a qualified shop.
The West Coast Tire & Services diesel crew has the ongoing training and specially tooled equipment to optimize diesel vehicle performance in the Southern California climate.
Diesel engines have highly specialized service requirements. The engine has no spark plugs; the unrefined fuel achieves ignition through high compression ratios of the air mixture. This results in lower fuel consumption per horsepower but also raises unique engine needs including intercooler maintenance and fuel filter anti-clogging measures. In addition, modern diesel technology requires mechanics and technicians to evaluate and update software control modules.
