Code 3 Grant Writing and Consultation for First Responders can assist with your application for the FY 2018 SAFER Grant Program. The SAFER Grant is the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grant Program that consists of two categories: Hiring of Firefighters Activity and Recruitment and Retention of Volunteer Firefighters. Hiring of Firefighters Activity can assist with departments who have part-time to full-time firefighters while the Recruitment and Retention of Volunteer Firefighters focuses on volunteer departments.


The SAFER Grant program is currently open now until Friday March 22nd, 2019 at 5 p.m. Eastern when it closes. This federally funded government grant by FEMA requires a lot of homework prior to application. You are required to have your SAM registration and a DUNS number as well as having all the information current with SAM.gov. It is imperative this information is correct.


The SAFER Grant program for first responders has appropriated $350,000.000. The purpose of the SAFER Grant Program is to provide funding directly to fire departments and volunteer firefighter organizations to assist in increasing the number of firefighters to help communities meet industry minimum standards and attain 24-hour staffing to provide adequate protection from fire and fire-related hazards and to fulfill traditional missions of the fire departments. A projected 300 awards will be issued by the SAFER Grant Program.
