Save The Mothers Trust, a leading UK charity that works with people across the world who don’t often make the media news headlines, has announced it has provided much needed aid to Rohingya refugees. These refugees are in urgent need of food, shelter and healthcare, and Save The Mothers Trust is striving to provide them with the help they need.

Save The Mothers Trust is a UK based charity that provides international relief as well as support to those less fortunate in the UK. It was created in 2003, with the aim of providing help and guidance for those dealing with poverty and hardship both at home and abroad.

The charity was founded on the belief that a mother is the foundation and structure upon whom a child is moulded. Therefore, if you are able to save the mother, you will save the children, and therefore be able to save the future.

The charity works hard to provide a good education to those it works with, so that they can become self sufficient. However, unfortunately, in many parts of the world, education has become a luxury.

SM Trust strives to set up life sustaining projects to provide food packs and clean water to those in need around the world.

The trust states: “Since August 2017 more than 650,000 Rohingya refugees have fled violence in Myanmar and crossed the border into Bangladesh with nothing.”

The refugees have faced discrimination, violence, and extreme poverty for decades. There have been reports of terrible incidents, including massacres, fires, and more.

Many of these people have walked for days, bringing with them horrible stories of violence. They desperately need food, shelter and healthcare, and safety, so that they can escape the risk of disease, exploitation, and abuse.

SMT volunteers distributed 1,200 food parcels across three camps in an effort to help the refugees. Each parcel contained rice, potatoes, lentils, salt, oil and other essentials.

In addition to the food packs, cooked food was provided, and distributed to over 1,000 refugee children and their families.
