About the Best Places to Work Award
Nashville Business Journal’s Best Places to Work recognizes companies in Middle Tennessee that strive to maintain high employee satisfaction and high retention while promoting a good work-life balance.
Initial nominations take place in February and are open to the public. The employees of nominated companies are then asked to complete a stringent online survey conducted by Quantum Workplace. The anonymous employee survey measures 10 key engagement categories, including trust in leaders, communication and resources, individual needs, personal engagement, team dynamics, and manager effectiveness. Nominated companies must also meet a minimum employee survey participation level to be considered for the award, a percentage that is based upon the size of each company. The results are tabulated, companies are ranked, and winners are chosen in each size category by their composite score.
Winners are announced near the end of May, and while this year’s NBJ Best Places to Work celebration events are temporarily postponed due to COVID19 precautions, 2020’s winners will be highlighted again in a special BPTW editorial edition of the Nashville Business Journal in June.
