Rockbridge Church has announced that Rockbridge Church and Good News United Methodist Church will partner to serve their community with their “BE THE CHURCH” event on Saturday/Sunday on November 9th & 10th. On Saturday groups from the churches will work on projects in the Cedar Park and Leander area, helping people in their own neighborhoods. The Saturday neighborhood work projects will be followed up the next day with a Sunday worship service with neighbors invited to visit the Church.

“BE THE CHURCH” SUNDAYS: Rockbridge Church and Good News UMC hold their “BE THE CHURCH” day twice per year with the event normally being held on a Sunday mornings. Twice per year these two churches utilize the “BE THE CHURCH” events to reach out with love to connect with people and make a difference in their lives. In the past, the event has typically begun with their Church doors being closed and church members worshiping at a local park before heading out into the community to help serve their community with assistance with local charity needs. However, for this November’s “BE THE CHURCH” event, the churches have decided to make it a two day event by reaching out into the local community on Saturday by helping with neighborhood clean up and also by helping neighborhood and community individuals and family’s work on small and minor projects where help is needed.

Reverend David McMinn, Pastor of Rockbridge Church said that their BE THE CHURCH event is very important to his Church and it’s mission “because it allows the church to serve the community with acts of love following the example set by Jesus Christ.” He said his Church’s “partner members are excited because this year groups from the churches will work on projects in the Cedar Park and Leander area, helping people in their own neighborhoods.” In addition to the work on projects on Saturday morning, the event will culminate on Sunday morning with worship and then membership partners making hygiene kits for people who have been or will be affected by natural disasters.

Each year these two churches reach out with love to connect with people and make a difference in their lives.
